NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME, ANNUAL REPAORT 2014-15                                                          

Various activities that touches every aspects of the society were conducted by National Service Scheme of, Sree Narayana College, Shivagiri, Varkala  in the year 2014-2015.

ENVIRONMENT DAY

Ø The annual activities started on June 5th, World environment day. The environment day was celebrated by planting trees under the guidance of NSS unit.  Principal Dr.G.Jayasenan inaugurated the programme by planting a tree.

 

 

 

 

FIRST YEAR ENROLMENT

Ø The first year student’s access started by July 19.Hundreds of students from various departments was given memberships based on their talents.  National Service Scheme  means social service in students .The NSS unit could fully  absorb this meaning  and inculcate the idea  that “ National service can  be achieved  from education institution , as done through political service.

GANDHI JAYANTHI

Ø As a part of Gandhi Jayandhi celebrations, under the guidence of college unit ten poor and needy people of Varkala  are being provided food packets. Thisprogramme started on October 2 ,2014. These food packets are provided by unit members.

·        On 2nd October 2014 we organized a debate competition   programme for NSS students. Gandhi jayanthi calibrations inaugurated by former Principal of SN colleges Dr.JAYAPRAKASH

 

 

 

INDIPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

Ø  Environment sanitation programs were conducted on Independence day and Republic day . Organic farming was started on Republic day. And it was monitored under the guidance of 10 leaders of the unit. The harvest was done by Principal Dr.G.Jayasenan on March 9.The cooperation of Physics department is  to be highlighted.

 

 

 

NSS DAY 2014

Ø  A study class was conducted to NSS unit members on September 24 ,NSS day. This class was headed by Prof.Usha ,Principal ,Nedumkandam B.Ed college ,on the topic Social service in youth’. This was followed by payasam distribution.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Ø  Under the guidance of NSS unit and blood donation club, a one day blood donation camp was conducted. The Red ribbon club co-operated with our programme.  Principal Dr.G.Jayasenan inaugurated the programme. Besides the NSS unit members, the entire students of the college were ready to donate blood. This energized our programme.

ARUNRAJ TREATMENT HELP PROGRAMME

Ø  One of the programme to be highlighted in the year 2014-2015 is Arun Raj treatment  help programme’. Unit collected RS.13215 from students for helping Arun Raj, a youth from Chemmuruthi Gramapanchayath, for his kidney transplantation.  Principal Dr.G.Jayasenan handed over a check of RS. 15000 to Arun Raj’s family on 5-09-2014.

ANTI DRUG RALLY AND STREET DRAMA

Ø  Anti Drug rally and Street drama conducted under the guidance of college NSS unit drew the attention of public of Varkala and could create awareness on the importance of NSS among them. As a part of Keralapiravi celebrations a trial show of this street drama was held in the college campus on October 13. The presence of entire college students enhanced the programme. The college NCC unit also participated in the Anti Drug street drama and campaign.The street Drama was presented in different areas of Varkala.

 

 

 

 

 

 

SEVEN DAY ANNUAL CAMP

Ø  A seven day camp started on December 19 and was inaugurated by  Dr.J.Prabhash ,former  Pro.VC  Kerala University.

 

A CLASS ON GROUP DYNAMICS

Sri .KarthikSasi conducted a learning Onclass on the topic ‘Group Dynamics’. Morning yoga class and evening culture programmes by the students brought  them closer to the camp.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ANTI PLASTIC CAMPAIGN PROGRAMME

Ø  An awareness class against plastic was conducted on Decemebr 19, second day of the camp. Smt.Lakshmi S Dharan, Chemistry department conducted the class on the topic ‘Chemistry of Plastic’ . The students of the unit conducted an awareness campaign. Members of the unit collected plastic with in the limit of around Varkala municipality and handed over to plastic recycling unit of the municipality.

 

 

A STUDY CLASS ABOUT NATIONAL ANTHAM

 

Ø  A learning class was conducted by Sri. Thampan .higher secondary school teacher on the importance of National  Anthem. The topic was ‘Deshiyabodhathinte Eeradikal’. This one day programme  helped the students to know more about   the importance of national anthem .

 

 

 

 

 

 

SELF EMPLOYMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME

Ø  On the 4thday  a self employment training program was conducted for the students. Sri.Haridas, Gandhiyan Study Center conducted a class on production of agarbathi, candle and paper bag.

 

 

ORDINARY VILLAGE BUILDING

Ø  On 5thday ,an extra ordinary village building programme was conducted by creating an imaginary building among the students. The programme was outstanding.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

NADEEL ULSAVAM

 

Ø  On 6th day of the camp ‘NADEEL ULSAVAM’ was conducted in collabration with  CherumiyoorKarshikaKarmasena in 5 acre field of Cherumiyoorpanchayath.This could bring back the paddy cultivation culture in students.The students and teachers actively participated in this program and it was a different experience.

 

 

 

ROAD TRAFFIC AWARNESS CLASS

Ø  Under the guidance of Attingal RTO a road safety awareness programme was conducted in the camp. A study class on traffic rules and their importance was taken by Pradeep, assistant motor vehicle inspector.

 

Ø  The leisure time documentary programmes added to the thinking capacity of the students.

SNEHASANTHWANAM 2015

Ø  The college NSS unit in collaborations with Human rights forum conducted SnehaSanthwanam  2015’ while winding up the annual programmes. Rupees 48000 was collected from the college, voluntary organisation and other institutes to help needy patients . This was distributed among four such patients as cheques of rupees 12000 each by Principal Dr.G.Jayasenan . The patients were – 1. Noushad ,aperson who has to undergo dialysis weekly , 2. Sreekala , a patient in medical college, 3.a group of congenitally blind people ,4. C. Chandran , security staff of our college , who was a heart patient.
